abstract: In the class Tools for UX Design, we partnered with a client, DTNA, and worked towards a solution for their request: Provide a simple-to-use mission control for level 4 automated trucks. Dispatchers in the automotive industry must be informed and provide instant support for all emergencies that come up in the trucks they manage. Each dispatcher manages around 30-50 professional drivers, and any delay in their response to unforeseen situations may cause downtime for Daimler, leading to extra time and costs.
-
How might we assist dispatchers in keeping track of all the trucks while providing instant and optimal solutions in a timely and effortless way when there is unexpected downtime?
-
In hub: trucks delayed for departure due to missing loads
En route: trucks unable to unload due to client dock’s unavailability
solution
BAYMAX provides the following solutions for Daimler:
in-hub solution: a simplified map of the departure hub and a timeline of truck departure to visualize and click into each truck’s status
en-route: mission control suggests options in order of optimization and prompts dispatchers to take action
BAYMAX acts as a bridge, connecting Daimler and its clients.
benefits for Daimler: real-time communication with clients, instant action to avoid extra costs and reduce downtime
benefits for clients: live updates on truck status, alternative options provided by ..Daimler that avoid extra costs
